    Assembly Instructions: Latch Spacers

    Product Description

Ultra-lightweight Zippy spacers reduce the handle bias of the HOM Chimera. Select from either full-length flush spacers which remove the latch for a more neutral balance, or custom Spring Latch spacers engineered to allow the retractable latch to spring open with a squeeze. The latch spacers are counterweighted to compensate for the latch weight to improve balance. Each version features positive jimping.

    Features

    • Spring latch spacers maximize EDC convenience by enabling the latch to spring open when handles are squeezed from the closed position.
    • Full length spacers offer reduced handle bias by lowering Chimera v2 weight from 4.63 oz to 4.49 oz.
    • Spring Latch spacers reduce handle bias, lowering Chimera v2 weight from 4.630 oz to 4.60 oz.
    • Counterweighted safe spacer:  The safe handle Spring Latch spacer is counterweighted with 3x removable tungsten weights to compensate for the weight of the latch on the bite handle. This improves balance for flipping even when using the latch.
    • Positive jimping for extra grip on ladders and chokers.
    • Compatible with both v1 and v2 Chimera.

    Disclaimer

The polyurethane spring latch was tested extensively for plastic fatigue over the course of many weeks, during which the spring was activated for hundreds of cycles, and stress-tested in the "engaged" position to ensure positive spring action even after heavy use. The spacers were designed specifically to mitigate the affects of plastic creep/fatigue, and the spring action was unaffected during these tests. That said, polymer fatigue over extended periods of time of heavy use is somewhat unavoidable, and not covered under warranty. To extend the lifespan of your spring latch and ensure your spring latch always has a snappy open, my official recommendation is to store the balisong with the latch disengaged (and/or retracted) when not carrying/EDC or in use.
